1982 BMW R80 ST, Quite a rare model, over 2 years restoration project (not full time), all running & back together.
44681 miles from new, 3 owners, one from April 83 to April 17.
I bought the bike in April 18, running perfect but cosmetically neglected. Stripped the bike completely, the engine & gearbox were taken out, the frame, sub frame, all the brackets & steel parts were sent for blasting & powder coating.
All the engine parts (except for the crank case), filter box, battery box, drive shaft casing, bevel box were also blasted. Some kept striped & some been painted.
Once the bike started to come back together, the following parts where replaced
· · Headrace bearings
· · Gaskets seals* & filters
· · Piston rings
· · Rear shock (not new)
· · Clutch
· · Bevel box was rebuilt, new bearings & seals (£500)
· · Throttle cable mechanism at the grip + some of the cables
· · Wiring loom cleaned & renewed
· · Lots of other spares, cables, rubber grommets & plugs, a lot of the nuts & bolts changed to stainless.
· The rear pegs & box frames are all available in a box.
The work was done, keeping the bike as original & authentic as possible.
The tank fenders & side panels are kept in the original paintwork, which is in a reasonable condition for its age.
The bike has mot until 27/ 4/ 22
