Originally a Californian car, which was imported into Britain and professionally converted from LHD to RHD.
The car is as solid as you will get and has undergone a photographic restoration and has been repainted. I bought the car lowered and as a Rat. The bodywork is solid, floor pan etc are as would be expected from a car that spent most of its life in the sunshine.
The car has had a great number of new bits fitted including: new mohair hood, hood head lining in perforated cream vinyl. The seats have been recovered using a kit imported from USA. There are new carpets fitted and a rear seat made to measure. I fitted a new set of front and rear bumpers in stainless steel and they look great. I have the old bumpers, which will go with the car but the cost of re-chroming was more than the new set of stainless bumpers. The bumpers are set off with a pair of chrome reversing lights.
The engine has been rebuilt and the car drives very well. I drove it from Bristol to Northern Ireland in mid winter with no problems. The car is MOT’d to December 2010 and taxed to January (Tax exempt).
A previous owner changed the colour from light blue to black but there is little or no evidence of this. I prepared the bodywork and got it professionally re-painted in black. The paint has a nice shine but there are one or two very small areas that could have been better prepared but I’m just being fussy. There are one or two small jobs needing done, eg heater cables (supplied) and bumpers adjusted just little things but again I’m just being honest.
The soft top on the car as I’ve said is a new mohair one and comes with the glass rear window.
The car has an excellent underside.
The nose on this car is in great condition and the spare wheel area is perfect.
The inner wings and sills are also in great condition.
Modern Sony 10 Disc CD,, cassette and radio fitted in glove box and behind the passenger rear seat, both concealed..

The car has been lowered and sits very low to the ground, running on Gas Burner Wheels and near new tyres. There is a file of history dating back to the early 1990s and a box of old Karmann Ghia Owners Club magazines. I’m not a Karmann Ghia expert, I bought the car because it looks great and it certainly turns heads. It’s not a car for the purist, as it has been altered but not extremely, so it still retains many of the original features.
As the car is in Northern Ireland I am willing to meet you at either of the Belfast airports or at the seaports, Larne or Belfast. I am selling for no other reason than I need the space. You will not be disappointed in this car and if you want more photographs please ask, I’ve taken lots throughout the restoration.
