The Appeal

The Land Rover Series and now Defender range is the stuff of legends. Used on every continent and for almost every imaginable use, from ambulances, through search and rescue, to the school run the classic shape is instantly recognisable. Built with simplicity in mind to enable ease of maintenance and modification, they make fantastic vehicles no matter what you do with them.

This Series II is ready to drive and with an extensive restoration (described by the owner as 99% complete and being a “nut and bolt” restoration) having been carried out by the current owner it presents in excellent mechanical condition and it will provide the new owner with a reliable classic that's ready for both on and off road use. The Mechanics

New ignition system including distributor cap, points, condenser and HT leads

The owner tells us that as part of the restoration he carried out extensive work to the chassis

Underside appears to be excellent condition with many new parts visible and has recently been undersealed
The owner informs us that it drives as it should; accelerating well, shifting smoothly (for a Series II Land rover with no synchro on 1st and 2nd gear!) and stopping quickly

Summary

This series II has been comprehensively restored by the current owner to a very high standard, but due to a recent lack of use it’s now ready for a new home. With a huge selection of invoices documenting all of the recent work and in excellent condition throughout it’s one that’s not to be missed.
