The Appeal
The Mini’s early life was not one spent in performance categories. The diminutive British motor was intended as a cheap, simple city car - a work of pure minimalism. It was John Cooper, the friend of the car’s designer Issigonis, who first saw the potential of them for rallying and racing. The first tuned up example of the Mini Cooper in 1961 - but the real winner came in 1963 - the Mini Cooper S.
With a maximum engine option of 1275cc, the car was suddenly a pretty capable racer - and to this day is the most capable classic Mini very created. The Cooper S famously won Monte Carlo in 1964, 1965, 1966 (though it was disqualified due to a highly controversial judgement) and in 1967. It was very much the car that created the legacy of the Mini today.
This example, originally kept in Texas, and has recently arrived in Denmark with simply spectacular levels of originality. We’ve little doubt that this top-of-the-line example of a true retro classic is sure to turn heads.
The History and Paperwork

The Condition
- Highly presented red paintwork with Union flag roof
- We can’t spot any sign of dents or dings
- Panel fit looks excellent
- Paintwork in very good order
- Chormework is still bright and reflective
- The car is sat on a full set of Minilites
- These are shod in Falken tyres that look brand new
- Internally, the car is similarly well-kept
- Black leather seats in very good order with only light wear
- All instruments are clean and well-presented
- Some light cracks to the steering wheel centre
- Carpets and headlining are in good order
The Mechanics
- 1275cc Performance A-Series engine
- 4-speed manual transmission
- Engine bay in excellent order
- No reports of any mechanical issues
- The Technical Inspection is valid all the way up until 2029
- The car comes complete with the necessary Smiths Grand Prix instruments for racing
- These haven’t been installed and look practically brand new, with all relevant literature
- Ultimately this appears to be a simply spectacular example of the most desirable Mini ever built!
