The Appeal
It’s a widely acknowledged truism of classic motoring that everyone should own an Alfa Romeo at least once. And if you’re going to own just one Alfa - personally, we’d recommend owning several - then we suggest a good place to start would be this car.
The 916 GTV and Spider rebooted a pair of nameplates with proper Alfa heritage. The new cars did share some Fiat DNA, but since it was channelled through Turin’s engineers, that was no bad thing. The result was a pair of exquisitely styled cars - arguably amongst the best of the era - with nimble handling and brilliant, revvy Twin Spark engines.
This 2L TS is a very good chance to discover all that. There are plenty of 916 Spiders about, but few as good as this one. It has covered a shade over 50,000 miles in its life, the sparing use backed by an excellent maintenance file that shows regular servicing and frequent all-important cambelt changes. The last cam belt was two years ago, and it was serviced in September 2024. The history file suggests meticulous keepers - in the photos, you’ll find typed summaries and pages of handwritten notes.
Finished in the classic Alfa combination of Rosso paintwork over Nero leather, this car is in very good order. Check the usual 916 areas and you’ll find this car in great order.
The 916 Spider is the Alfa you can comfortably depend on. This car arrives with perfect timing for summer and looks delightful. With an MOT until May 2026, it is ready to roll.
The vendor says:
“The drive is engaging and feels lovely and nimble, compared to the heavier 3 litre engine.
Good ones are becoming rare in this condition with such low mileage, and so the Pininfarina styling attracts admiring glances, especially from the other Alfa owners.
It is in beautiful condition, which I have maintained to a high level, as have the previous owners.”
