The Appeal

Of all the typically spartan, straightforward 500s, the Francis Lombardi ‘My Car’ edition is one of the most luxurious. The Vercelli-based coachbuilders added a new - completely cosmetic - front grille, a fibreglass dash, new dials, opening rear windows (how luxurious!) a wooden trimmed steering wheel and shiftgear.

This handsome example was fully restored in 2015, and has run very little since. With its ASI gold badge and a slightly more powerful engine in the back, it’s bound to make a highly enjoyable drive.

Car is sitting on its original steel wheels with a full set of Pirelli tyres
We’ve not received any reports of faults to the underside of the car
Reportedly, the underbody is almost entirely new

The Mechanics

Engine has been upgraded to a period-accurate but slightly more powerful one
This is likely an upgrade from the 479cc I2 to a 499cc I2
4-speed manual transmission
Engine bay is in good order with no major faults
No reports of leaks or mechanical faults from the vendor
Car is reportedly starting and running well, and has been run short distances regularly

Summary

With all of the mod cons (or the equivalent for a 1968 Fiat 500) and superb overall condition, this is a superb example of the Fiat 500 - and should be capable of charming all but the most cynical enthusiast.
