The Appeal
Several countries, most notably amongst them Italy, operated a tax system based on engine capacity. This dissuaded buyers on a budget away from larger engines, prompting many manufacturers to launch entry-level versions of their sporting models. This included Alfa Romeo, launching the GT Junior range in 1965. The cars in question were Tipo 105 Bertone Coupés, fitted with smaller versions of Giuseppi Busso's Nord twin-cam, initially a 1300 and then later in 1600cc form. Lighter, and revvier and their 1750 and 2000 counterparts, the more basic GT Juniors are highly sought after amongst enthusiastic drivers. Anybody who's ever driven one will confirm that these are seriously addictive cars.
This 1975 example is something really special. It's a rare right-hand drive UK market example, in highly original condition, even down to the correct steel wheels which so often get swapped out for alloys.
The vendor tells us:
"I bought the car in October 2021. The Brake Master Cylinder and reservoir were replaced, as the brakes were poor. The car has barely covered 100 mile since purchase in 2021 and has been garaged during this time, with an indoor cover for protection of the paintwork. The V5 shows 13 previous owners. Most of the history of the car was provided by the previous owner through a significant number of receipts and old MOT certificates.
"The car speaks for itself. It sounds good, looks good, turns heads. I bought it, as it was an ambition of mine to own one for some time.
