The Appeal

If you want a Type 2 - and considering the van's enduring popularity, we'd hedge a bet that most of the world does - it's likely that an ex-South African example is the way to go. Not only are these comfortably set up for the UK market, they've spent much of their life in far drier climes than British soil, and come out all the better for it.

This 1977 Kombi is, then, a great prospect for those seeking a particularly handsome example. Carrying the desirable 2.0-litre engine and a very handsome brown leather interior, it's a very solid, brightly presented van that was handpicked from a prestigious collection.

While the Type 2 is enormously popular, it's not secret that most examples on the domestic market are getting a little worse for wear, thanks to the English climate. This van defies that standard and offers a very impressive, solid classic for the lucky enthusiast.
