The Appeal
The later convertible may be more populous, but there are many reasons to want Jaguar’s earlier open top XJS. These cars have more bracing so are more structurally robust, then there’s the 2+2 layout and choice of full convertible or Targa-style motoring.
The XJS-C is very rare, too. Just 1,077 3.6L cars like this one were built and only 357 of 3.6L and 5.3L cars were equipped with manual gearboxes. That option releases the sporting potential of a car too often seen as merely a long-legged GT cruiser.
This lovely, low mileage Steel Blue 3.6L manual gearbox car is therefore a real find. The factory-correct paintwork is mated to a well preserved grey leather interior. The roof and recently undersealed underside also present well. It has been properly maintained too, amassing a large history file of regular servicing up to late 2023 and under 2,000 miles ago.
The car comes to market with the added reassurance of a lengthy, advisory-free MOT. That could be one of the last tests for the car because it will be eligible for Historic Vehicle status from 1st April 2027.
