The Appeal
What contemporary 1970s buyers shunned, modern enthusiasts adore. And with good reason: the XJS delivers a serenity, smoothness and sheer effortlessness that is properly Jaguar and achieved by few classics.
These cars make excellent tourers but the best are also becoming sought-after by collectors, we suspect this car will appeal to the latter because it is an elevated example that has covered just 30,587 miles in its 35 years. It comes as no surprise that the car is a former concours winner at the Royal Windsor Jaguar Festival and came runner up as ‘best car’ in an earlier event.
Classically finished in Signal Red with a well-preserved Magnolia hide interior, this is a very good example of the mid-period XJS, the one that got the chrome bumpers and wood yet retained the classic aesthetics. It has been maintained very well by its long term current keeper and arrives on the market with a recent oil and filter change. He has carefully documented the car’s history in a thick folder and annotated Excel spreadsheet.
This is a very fine example of Jaguar’s V12 coupe and its long, advisory-free MOT to April 2026 underlines that point.
