The Appeal
In the 1980s, it seemed everyone was gunning for Mercedes-Benz’s saloon car crown. Toyota led the charge with Lexus, but running close behind was Honda with its superbly engineered Legend. The result of a joint venture with Austin Rover, the second-generation KA1-6 Legend was the first in the lineage to be developed specifically for European tastes.
These care are, inevitably, legendarily well built and yet survivors are in short supply, especially cars as good as this 1991 example. It is one of the last built and features the firm’s reliable 2.7L 160bhp V6 engine and luxury leather-lined specification.
The car remained with its first keeper until 2022 and has covered a shade over 59,000 miles in its 35 years. The service book shows regular attention, and along with the MOT history, it supports the low mileage. The condition is in the ‘timewarp’ category, with none of the usual sagging or deterioration you might expect of areas such as the arches, sills, headlining, trim or driver’s seat. It is a sense supported by the MOT, which runs to the end of April with no structural advisories.
This comfy and quick executive barge would make a great display at car shows or could double as an interesting daily. You’re unlikely to find another this good, so jump in and enjoy before it gets away.
