The Appeal
Cobra replicas tend to fall into two categories - those focussed on the look, and those that add brutal performance to the mix. This car is the latter, a snorting 400bhp Pilgrim Sumo with a high specification 327CI 5.4L Chevy small block beneath the bonnet.
Finished in fetching metallic blue with smart two-tone interior, it has covered just 5,400 miles since completion 30 years ago. It has been in the same family since 2000, inherited by the current keeper in 2020 from his grandfather.
The vendor has recently completed an extensive check over and overhaul. The work has included attention to the brakes, new Cooper Cobra tyres, the replica Hallibrands have been refurbished, the suspension attended to and the coolant flushed. Naturally, it has also been serviced.
In very good order and looking very purposeful with its chrome side exit exhausts, this is a really tasty Cobra. A lengthy MOT to October 2025 adds transparency for the buyer.
The vendor says:
“It a fantastic cruiser, and it's great having everyone almost break their neck to get a look. Sounds absolutely phenomenal under load, but thanks to the auto gearbox, it's very mild when just cruising. Handling is alright for what it is, and suspension is stiff, but it is adjustable.”
