The Appeal
The R in the Turbo R’s name stood for ‘roadholding’, and it signifies the extensive ride and handling improvements that make these cars the SZ-type Bentleys to buy. They were well regarded by contemporary reviewers, too, who were surprised by how agile a two-tonne saloon could be.
This car is from the final year of LWB production when the longer chassis was the standard Turbo R option. It was first acquired by a well known marque enthusiast and its subsequent four keepers have amassed just 75,000 miles. The current keeper acquired the car in 2024, intending to use it for a 4,000-mile European trip, which he has just completed. In preparation for this trip, he expended £4,000 on checks, servicing and maintenance using a well-known marque specialist.
The car also received £8,000 of engine and mechanical work by the same specialist when he acquired the car. The vendor tells us that the car has full service history from new by main dealers and specialists.
Classically finished in dark blue metallic with a two-tone magnolia and blue leather cabin, this is a very well preserved Turbo R LWB. That it performed faultlessly on that recent continental trip is perhaps no surprise. The MOT valid to February 2026 with no advisories adds further transparency and reassurance.
The vendor says:
“This is a magnificent car that drives beautifully and carries passengers in supreme comfort. Despite its size it is fast and nimble to handle. It easily holds its own on unrestricted autobahns, but is equally at home navigating the narrow streets of Oslo or Ghent. The new owner will not be disappointed.”
