The Appeal
Few saloon cars do long, low and lithe quite like the X308, a car that was the final evolution of a model first developed in the 1970s. As such, it is one of the last Jaguars built with a direction connection back to Sir William Lyons, who was involved in the development of the XJ40 on which this car is based.
The addition of a V8 enhanced the smoothness and silence that seem so intrinsic to any Jaguar saloon. These later cars also got the improved interior, notable the revised wood-trimmed dashboard. This 2002 car dials up the luxury with its Executive SE specification, which adds improved leather and walnut to the standard trim. Finished in Topaz Gold metallic with ‘starfish’ alloys and Cashmere leather, it is a well presented and sparingly used example of these final cars.
The current keeper has clearly cherished it since acquiring it in 2006. The usual X308 check areas such as arches and sills are in good general condition and the lengthy current MOT contains no advisories.
This is a tidy and well specified example of the last of the ‘traditional’ XJs.
