The Appeal

The Citroën B2 was one of the earliest successful mass-produced vehicles from André Citroën, building upon the foundations laid by the Type A with improved power and reliability. This 1923 example presents a rare opportunity to own a piece of early automotive history, accompanied by a well-documented provenance. It is believed to have been originally owned by Mr Daniel Vincent, a coachbuilder and ironworker, whose craftsmanship is evidenced by the distinctive side hooks and his nameplate still present on the dashboard.
This Citroën has benefited from a comprehensive renovation completed in 1999, with detailed documentation available. Having been used sparingly over the past 19 years (approximately 1,000 km), it has been primarily reserved for special occasions such as family weddings. The current owner has ensured proper maintenance with recent new tyres and battery fitted in 2024.

History and Paperwork

  • First registered on 15/09/1923, believed to have been originally owned by Mr. Daniel Vincent, a coachbuilder and ironworker from Lethuin, Eure & Loir, France
  • Original registration documents from 1927 (registration B6120 Y 9) and 1955 (registration 711 BD 28) available
  • Purchased on 02/07/1996 by Mr. Depret from Mr. Christian Laitem of Ham-sur-Heure, Belgium
  • Registered in Belgium on 20/06/1997 with plate LSL531
  • Comprehensive renovation completed by Mr. Depret with first post-restoration outing on 19/06/1999
  • Acquired in 2006 by the current owner, Mr. Deneve, from Mrs. Pascale Depret following Mr. Depret's passing in 2002
  • Detailed renovation documentation available
  • Comes with photocopies of the "Dictionnaire des réparations Citroën 10cv" published by André Citroën and "Les archives du collectionneur - Citroën A-B.2-B.10-B.12 et 5CV"
  • Exempt from Contrôle Technique

The Mechanics

  • Original Citroën B2 10CV engine
  • Three-speed manual transmission
  • Transmission flexible couplings (flectors) and one tulip joint were replaced in 2006
  • Engine maintenance and carburettor cleaning performed in 2006
  • Foot starter control checked in 2007
  • Valve spring replaced and fan belt renewed in 2010, parts sourced from Dépanoto in Nogent-le-Rotrou, France
  • New battery installed in 2024
  • Has covered approximately 1,000 km in the last 19 years, we are told
