The Appeal
Unlike many marques during the down-decades of the '30s and '40s, Plymouth managed to soldier on with remarkable strength. Occupying Chrysler's more budget range, the Plymouth managed to offer a level of comfort without breaking the bank, and the Special Deluxe meant that even the most hard-up of investment banker had an option for an executive car.
As a result, Plymouh was the third highest-selling car brand for much of this time, and the Deluxe range became a golden boy for the company. If you could pay a few bucks extra, you'd typically go for the higher trim—the Super Deluxe. By modern standards (and, to be fair, even for the time), it's hardly a limousine, but that everyday comfort was well worth it for a discerning driver.
This particular car was delivered new to Europe in 1947 and later spent time in Colombia. Now it's back on the continent, it's a fine, scarce classic awaiting registration and inspection before returning to the road. Plymouth (8).jpg1.85 MB
