Attractiveness

Without his thriving agricultural business, Ferruccio Lamborghini could never have built the supercars we all know and love. When Enzo Ferrari was still working in dilapidated warehouses, Lamborghini opened a state-of-the-art production facility. He was already a successful industrialist, and all thanks to tractors like this 36-horsepower 3352 R.

This model is a true rarity, a predecessor of the more common Lamborghini 2R. The seller tells us:

"If you are looking for a working Lamborghini tractor, with regular documents, complete with lift and just as functional, this is the one for you. On top of all that, we are talking about a rare model, a 3352 R 36 hp, with cast-iron engine heads. The paint is not beautiful, but considering that it is 64 years old and has been used for heavy work and not for going shopping on Sundays, it is not bad at all.

"Even if you are not true collectors, especially of tractors, we are talking about a historic brand and a name known throughout the world: Lamborghini. And for those who still don't know, Lamborghini started out by building robust and functional agricultural machines, before dedicating itself - almost as a challenge - to the production of the cars that collectors desire today."

History and Documentation

• Registered in 1961, with Italian number plate
• According to documentation, the tractor has had only two owners
• Had not been used for 10 years, but started up immediately; gearbox, brakes and accessories in working order
• Recent work: new front tyres, new battery, general cleaning, new diesel, new fuel tank cap, replaced front emblem
• Tractor not registered with ASI
• Exempt from overhaul

Seller states:

"I bought this Lamborghini tractor because I had never had this model. It has 36 hp, and is the predecessor of the 39 hp 2R, of which I have already had several examples. It still has three cylinders, but with cast iron heads and not aluminium as in the 2R series.

"I bought it from the wife of the former owner, who decided to sell it as it was a memento of her husband who passed away about 10 years ago. I changed the battery, put in new diesel and after a few laps of the engine it started up immediately, much to the surprise of the lady, but as I expected from a Lamborghini tractor.

"For starting, we didn't use starter, because it could damage the cylinder heads. Once it started, I moved it to get it closer to the tow truck, just to check that the clutch and gearbox were working properly. Finally, I tested the lift: by moving the lever, the arms rose and then lowered, making it easier to load."

Condition

• Front bonnet repainted over the years due to faded colour, but without straightening dents
• Rear mudguards in original condition, untouched
• Bodywork has been repainted in dark blue (visible in photos)
• The cast-iron mudguards show their age, as does the toolbox
• The matt bonnet shows its dents and lived-in history
• Engine, gearbox and transmission repainted in dark blue, they were originally in light blue
• Original seat, but with rust at the fixing point to the support; repaired over time but to be fixed if it is to be restored
• Seat still usable as is, with signs of ageing
• Original exhaust and steering wheel
• Tachometer glass broken, but will be replaced in the next few days

Mechanics

• 3-cylinder 2,194 cc diesel engine with cast-iron cylinder heads
• Six-speed gearbox
• After a battery change and the addition of diesel, the tractor started up well after a long period of inactivity
• Brakes, clutch and gearbox work well
• Good oil pressure, efficient injection pump, smooth engine
• Precise steering, no abnormal play reported
• Two new front wheels
• The two power take-offs work, as does the rear linkage
• No starter spray was used to avoid damage to the cylinder heads
• Considering its age and 10 years of standstill, the tractor runs very well
