The Appeal
The BMW 1600-2 was the forerunner to the iconic 2002 series, offering a blend of nimble handling, reliable mechanics, and crisp ‘New Class’ styling that make these compact sports saloons so popular with enthusiasts.
This early 1600-2 arrived in the UK in 2023 and has been with the single keeper since. Finished in attractive turquoise, a nod to the original Turkish metallic BMW colour, it has been sympathetically modified across the aesthetics and running gear. The result is a very distinctive car that could be used on road or track ‘as is’ or taken to the next level.
The work has focused on tweaking the engine, improving the handling and creating a more purposeful, de-bumpered look. It is an ideal candidate for someone looking to enjoy a classic BMW while gradually improving it to their own specification.
