The Appeal
There are Spitfires and then there is this Spitfire. It is one of the best we've seen in a long while thanks to a recent 'no expense spared' restoration that the vendor describes, accurately we think, as 'nut and bolt.' With just 132 miles covered since completion, this means a chance to grab a car where someone else has put in all the money and hard work.
That this is a MkIII Spitfire, with the pretty early Michelotti sculptural styling, further adds to its appeal. Beneath the clamshell bonnet is Standard-Triumph's peppy 1.3-litre engine, which delivers just enough grunt to make a backroad blast a thoroughly enjoyable endeavour. With its low-slung stance, open cockpit, and charming simplicity, it’s all about the joy of driving, not necessarily the destination.

The Mk III brought meaningful upgrades over earlier versions, including more power, a revised bonnet, and a tidier interior, making it, arguably, the sweet spot in the Spitfire’s lineage. Today, it stands out as an ideal entry point into classic motoring: charming, affordable, and easy to own, with just the right mix of character and everyday usability.
Owned by the seller since 2018, this pretty car benefits from a full strip down, repaint, and a rebuild with a vast amount of replacement and upgraded parts fitted. The bodywork was completed by Henry’s Auto Body Shop to a very high standard, while the seller tackled the remainder of the rebuild. It benefits from upgrades to the braking and suspension system, including polybushing, and an improved cooling system. It isn't a stretch to suggest this car is better than when it left the factory.
It comes to market with the added reassurance of a voluntary MOT to September 2025. Naturally there are no advisories. This beautiful car has had just two previous keepers - with all that work and investment, here's your chance to be the fourth.
The vendor says:
"I bought these cars and had them completely restored by a well reputed specialist as a labour of love and at no expense spared. I know I will never get my money back but I am thinning out my collection and I hope these will go to a lovely new home"
