The Appeal
When this Mk1 Escort rolled out of the showroom one autumnal day in October 1972, its proud first owner likely could never imagine what it would become.
Thanks to a comprehensive restoration and makeover involving some key names and component suppliers in the world of rallying, today it is a remarkable and highly specified RS2000 replica rally car. Under the Bob Dawin fully seam welded shell, finished in classic white with blue RS2000 decals, lies a 2L Pinto pushing out 165bhp mated to a Quaiffe Pro 4spd box. Elsewhere the eagle-eyed will sport an Atlas fully floating axle with 4:1 LSD and a full roll cage. Peruse the photos and the list of rally-inspired features just gets longer and longer.
The car is in very good order and comes with valid Motorsport UK Passport to 2031. With a recent cambelt change and checkover, it is ready to use on the road or track.
The History and Paperwork
- First registered 18th October 1972
- Previously brown which was changed in 2005
- This is likely when the car was created as a RS2000 replica rally car
- Originally sold new as an Escort 1300L
- Still registered in HPI and DVLA as a 1300L but with 2L engine
