The Appeal
The Daimler Sovereign 4.2 is the more refined, luxurious counterpart to the Jaguar XJ6 Series III, distinguished by its fluted grille, additional chrome detailing, and the prestige of the Daimler name. Powered by the celebrated 4.2-litre straight-six and paired with a three-speed automatic gearbox, the Sovereign offered smooth, comfortable motoring in the grand tradition of the marque.
This golden-coloured 1983 example has been in the hands of its current keeper since 1991, a remarkable custodianship of some 35 years. A paint and bodywork refurbishment was carried out circa 1998, and the car has reportedly been garaged ever since. A handful of electrical items require attention, but the vendor reports that the car drives well and that the mechanical systems are functioning as they should. Located in France since 2009, this long-cherished Sovereign awaits its next custodian.
