The Citroën 2CV Special is one of the most endearing and recognisable cars ever made. With its air-cooled flat-twin engine, interconnected suspension and fold-back canvas roof, it offers a driving experience quite unlike anything else on the road, and one that continues to charm new admirers decades after production ended. The Special trim, with its simple, no-frills specification, captures the 2CV ethos in its purest form.
This 1985 example was purchased from 2CV City, a respected Citroën 2CV specialist that traded until 2023. When the car failed its MOT in 2021 due to corrosion in the floor sections, the decision was taken to go well beyond the minimum repair, with all known structural weak points thoroughly addressed. Stored indoors since the work was completed, it presents well and remains entirely unmodified. The vendor describes it as a well-sorted, usable classic rather than a concours piece: honest, charming and increasingly rare.
