The Appeal
Ford’s decision to turn Jaguar’s proposed XJS replacement into the DB7 meant a reprieve for the firm’s louche GT. And that was good news for customers - and for collectors now.
The facelift XJS got smoother lines, better build quality and the firm’s excellent AJ6 4L straight six engine, a powerplant renowned for its durability and V12-rivalling refinement.
This car was supplied new to Japan with a rare TWR body kit. It lived a cossetted life there on the island’s salt-free roads in the hands of just one keeper, before recently returning to these shores. Finished in stylish grey metallic with a Japanese-market black and grey cloth interior, it is in very good order with only light signs of aging.
There is scope for the buyer to attend to some light cosmetic and running gear points, but the underpinnings of a great example are all there to be enjoyed by the next owner.
The XJS is a great GT. This one stands out from the rest with its specification, body kit and general condition.
