The Appeal
The debate over the most beautiful car Aston Martin ever designed could take a while, and would undoubtedly provoke strong partisan sentiments. However, to many eyes, the DB9 is a pure distillation of beauty. With its gently curving lines, deeply recessed headlamps and perfectly proportioned wheels, a DB9 in a good colour can be quite majestic – especially in Volante form when the roof is stowed neatly away.
This particular DB9 rolled off the Aston production line on its 10-spoke alloy wheels in 2007. It was specified with Tungsten silver paint – always a good choice in terms of showing off the DB9’s svelte lines and blending in its rear light clusters – with full black leather and contrast stitching inside the cabin. The paintwork appears to be in excellent condition, with only the front and rear parking sensors disturbing their flawless lines, and there is no evidence that this car has covered almost 46,000 miles, with the black canvas roof fitting snugly into place.
The current owner describes this car as “a wonderful low mileage example with thousands spent on maintenance in recent years, resulting in a fantastically well-presented vehicle.” The interior shows superficial signs of wear but is in very good condition from the leather centre console surrounds to the gorgeous analogue clock that takes centre stage in the aluminium dashboard with its tactile gear button lozenges. The steering wheel shows no sign of patination, ahead of a speedo calibrated up to 220 mph; while the DB9’s performance doesn’t quite stretch that far, it remains one of this century’s great grand tourers.
The History and Paperwork
- Stamped service record book
- Original Aston Martin brochures
- Extensive invoices for thorough maintenance
- Original service book showing 13 service stamps
The Condition
- Tungsten silver paintwork shows no corrosion
- Full black leather and contrast stitching
- Folding roof in full order and fitting snugly
- Minimal wear on seats and carpets as new
Benefiting from a low number of owners, this DB9 has been comprehensively maintained throughout its life. The vendor reports it has had “13 services in total, seven at main agents and six at independents and specialists”. They also describe “minimal wear on the interior, reflective of the low mileage” and there is certainly no evidence from the carpets or seats that this car has been anything other than lightly used.
The Mechanics
- Major mechanical overhaul carried out annually
- Last major service in August 2024
- Air/pollen filters and rear brakes recently replaced
- Tyre system fault displaying on dashboard
Comprehensive overhauls between 2017 and 2023 covered everything from replacing air filters through to examining the steering rack gaiters for tears. The vehicle’s underside has been routinely inspected, brake pads refitted with an anti-seize compound, and any damage to the bodywork has been diligently repaired. Other than a tyre warning message displaying on the dashboard, the owner reports no mechanical faults, which is a testament to the car’s exhaustive ongoing maintenance.
