The Appeal
The New Map JT3 Tourisme is a product of the Maison New-Map factory in Lyon, France, a marque that, despite its British-sounding name, was a French manufacturer operating from 1925 through the late 1950s. Rather than mass-producing motorcycles, New Map took a bespoke approach, assembling machines in low volumes using carefully selected third-party components. The JT3 Tourisme paired a British JAP 350cc side-valve single with a Burman three-speed gearbox, creating a practical touring motorcycle.
This 1927 example represents a scarce opportunity. New Map's low-volume production philosophy means that surviving machines are few and far between, and the JT3 is sought after among collectors of pre-war French and European motorcycles. The bike is supplied with German registration papers. For the serious vintage motorcycle enthusiast, this is a chance to acquire a piece of French motorcycling history that is seldom seen at auction.
