Long-term Swedish registration history from 1976 to 2009
Currently registered in the Czech Republic
The Appeal
A car with a lot to prove, the 3½ Litre was the first model produced following Rolls-Royce's acquisition of Bentley. Without W.O. at the helm, Bentley's future was uncertain, but the so-called 'Derby Bentleys' proved to be exceedingly popular and capable, marrying Rolls-Royce engineering refinement with Bentley's sporting character. Hooper & Co. was among the most distinguished British coachbuilders of the period, and a Fixed Head Coupé body on the 3½ Litre chassis is a particularly rare sight today.
This example carries a documented Swedish registration history stretching from 1976 to 2009, after which it moved to the Czech Republic where it remains registered. Having been restored approximately five years ago and recommissioned in early 2025, the car is reported to be in running and driving order. The cabin is trimmed in deep red leather with extensive wood veneer, showing an agreeable degree of age-related patina. The paintwork does show some cosmetic imperfections, leaving scope for further improvement. For those seeking a usable pre-war Bentley with rare and distinguished coachwork, this Hooper-bodied 3½ Litre warrants close attention.Bentley vs Jaguar_19.JPG10.86 MB
