Highlights
- One of only 100 T4s built over three years
- Stylish four-door, four-seat pre-war saloon
- Smart silver bodywork with brown velour interior
- Currently used sparingly as a wedding car
The Appeal
The T4 was part of a pre-war reboot of Talbot precipitated by Tony Lago’s purchase of the company in 1935. The firm aimed to broaden the marque’s appeal with a smaller, four cylinder model, but one with the sporting intent and luxury style of its larger models.
The idea didn’t quite catch on, with only 100 being built over three years. Looking at this pretty 1938 model you have to wonder why, because the ‘Minor’ is a stylish, well-appointed car that wears Talbot’s usual flowing, handsome style.
Here, then, is a chance to acquire one of Talbot and France’s rarest pre-war cars. Finished in silver with a brown velour cabin, it is a really tidy example that has been used in recent years for weddings. The buyer could continue to exploit that commercial opportunity, or simply enjoy a comfortable, stylish and very rare pre-war saloon.
