The Appeal
The MGA Coupé ranks amongst the iconic British sports cars of the 1950s. Its fixed-roof bodywork offers greater weather protection than the roadster, whilst this Coupé variant, produced in smaller numbers, presents a distinctive silhouette.
This 1959 example, left-hand drive, was exported to the United States as new before returning to Europe. It is now registered in France. The original white paint presents well for a vehicle of this age, with only minor paint chips reported. The serial numbers are matching and a simplified inspection report dating from October 2024 accompanies the car.
The original 1,500 cc engine has been bored out to 1,600 cc. The seller indicates it runs correctly and the gearbox ratios engage smoothly. Inside, the leather upholstery, carpets and dashboard instrumentation are presented as being in good condition. The Coupé bodywork also offers appreciable headroom for taller occupants.

✓ We require non-refundable fees to be paid if you are the successful winner of the auction or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our FAQs and terms and conditions for specific rates.

✓ VAT is included in the buyer's deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final offer or bid price, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want the transaction to run smoothly, just as you do, which is why cars and motorcycles registered in the United Kingdom and sold on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to verify they have no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and are not subject to a financial charge, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are registered as written off as a result of a total loss claim at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic and we provide write-off category tags (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. The presence or absence of a tag does not, however, guarantee the vehicle's status and it is always useful to carry out a full vehicle history check before making an offer on it.
