A basis for a restoration project or display piece
The Appeal
Francis Barnett trials motorcycles occupy a niche in the story of British off-road competition. Built in Coventry, these lightweight machines were popular among clubman trials riders during the late 1950s and early 1960s, and survivors in any condition are increasingly difficult to find.
This 1960 example was purchased from auction and was intended for display. Very little history is known about the machine, but encouragingly, the engine is reported to kick over. It does require some attention: a new inner tube is needed and the stand requires re-welding. For the trials enthusiast or British motorcycle collector seeking a project or an evocative display piece, this Francis Barnett is a great find.1182fa80-88b2-4e5d-a72f-da77ec9cd810.webp143.13 KB
