The Appeal
Outside of the Coopers, it’s early cars like this rather fabulous Seven that draw the eye of Mini enthusiasts. It’s an early car so extremely close to the purity of Issigonis’ vision, but benefits from detail improvements applied by BMC as it discovered early problems with leaks and ride.
Built in October 1960 and first registered in March 1961, this Speedwell Blue car is one of the nicest Sevens that we’ve seen in a long while. DVLA records indicate that the current keeper, who bought it in 2017, has sympathetically improved it without sacrificing originality. In recent years it has received a body renovation with a respray in correct Speedwell Blue. There is also a new wiring loom, and the carburetor has been overhauled. Inside, the two-tone interior is original save for two new front door cards. Those early features, notably the floor stays, are thankfully retained.
This is a carefully presented early Mini that should appeal to anyone seeking a carefully improved example of one of Britain's most iconic small cars.
The vendor says:
“Runs extremely well. Engine starting. All kept as original as possible. New wiring loom.
“It's a true gem! This iconic classic needs no introduction. It just puts a smile on your face! Patiently restored to keep the car as original as possible. Anything that wasn't correct has been replaced to what a car of this age should be.”

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do, and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic, and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status, and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
