The Appeal
The 1962 Mini Cooper brought John Cooper's legendary performance to the much-loved BMC Mini, turning the marque's self-proclaimed 'nurse's car' into a real motorsports legend. Fitted with its eager 997cc engine and renowned for its nimble handling, the original Cooper established a formula that would go on to dominate international rallying and win the devotion of enthusiasts the world over. Earlier machines continue to command a lot of interest.
Originally shipped to South Africa as a CKD car, this handsome example has been kept highly original and has benefited from its home's dry climate. The only modifications noted by the vendor are a pair of seats sourced from a later Mini Cooper, which certainly look much more comfortable than the original '60s spec.
Presented as a usable classic with the potential to be an ideal winter restoration project, this charming little classic is ready and waiting for its new keeper. IMG_4773.jpg1.2 MB
