The Appeal
Most cars, of course, are physically bigger than BMW’s Isetta, but we’ll wager that none are bigger on character than the iconic bubble car. Good examples are like motoring eye magnets, whether zipping around towns or static at shows.
This ‘62 example is one of the later ‘300’ models with the bigger 298cc single cylinder 4 stroke introduced by BMW to capitalise on more relaxed taxation rules. It is an elegantly named Moto Coupe Deluxe, which got bigger sliding side windows. First UK registration was in 1983 and the vendor acquired it in 2013.
Finished in fetching burgundy metallic with white frontal details and a lovely tartan fabric interior, it is a lovely example in great condition. It is well detailed too, retaining its BMW-branded hub caps, grey three-spoke wheel and BMW fuel filler.
We are told that in recent years it has been maintained by specialist Bromley Bubble Car Company. It comes with a large history file attesting to its regular maintenance.
