The Appeal
Produced between the years of 1962 and 1965, the Super 5 was a Row-Crop tractor manufactured with excellent technical specification. Undeniably one of the great tractors in the Renault line-up, it has earned a fantastic reputation for its reliability and dependability.
The lovely example we have presented here has reportedly been sympathetically restored to a retain much of the vehicles originality and charm, and the current keeper believes that the vehicle used to belong to a tractor museum located in London.
The History and Paperwork
- Paperwork would appear rather thin on the ground
- No service history records present of the vehicle
- The vehicle is believed to have been owned by a tractor museum in London
- Recently restored with new and refurbished components
- Recently repainted in lovely orange paintwork
- Fuel hoses appear to have been replaced
The Exterior
- Recent sympathetic restoration and paintwork presents the Super 5 in handsome condition
- The front grill shows some light signs of damage with a few missing fins and splits, with no corrosion noticed
- Both headlamps appear in excellent condition and are reported to remain functional
- Original Renault badge present and in good form, as well as the Super 5 side mounted badge on the left side of the vehicle
- All four wheels show good paintwork with gentle signs of corrosion beneath the paint, and all four tyres have some heavy signs of cracking throughout and would require replacement before use
- Engine cover remains in good health, again with some patina noticed beneath the paintwork, radiating character
- Engine block, transmission and frame all colour-coded to the body panels and wheels
- Original dashboard gauge is present and shows some heavy patina from its age
- Leather seat presents itself handsomely without any signs of damage, and the seat frame all appears in good condition
- Steering wheel shows a fair amount of damage and cracks throughout the spokes and the outer rim, as well as around the centre locking nut

- 2.3-litre, 3 cylinder diesel engine
- 35bhp and a maximum of 2,000 RPM engine speed
- Mechanical steering
- Drum brakes
- 6-speed manual transmission, 6 forward gears and 1 reverse
- Rear-wheel drive configuration
- Fuel lines appear to have been recently replaced
- No available service history, however the owner states that the vehicle remains in reasonable mechanical condition with the exception of the tyres requiring replacement
Summary
This is a handsome and sympathetic example of a Super 5, with some lovely paintwork and charming bodywork to match. The Super 5 represents a piece of agricultural history, with a rugged build quality that will outlast most of its owners. This would make a lovely addition to any enthusiast's collection, oozing with vintage charm
