The Appeal
To the uninitiated, a MGB is a MGB, a long-lived car whose appeal lies much in its constancy and lack of change. It helps explain why these cars are so easy to own with such plentiful parts supply. But to proper enthusiasts, there are MGBs and then there are cars like this one.
Of course, as the eagle-eyed will already have spotted, it is an early ‘pull handle’ car, which means it has the aluminium bonnet and that distinctive door furniture as fitted to pre-April 1965 cars. Thankfully, unlike many older restorations, it retains those desirable features, together with the Old English White paintwork and black interior described on the car’s BMIHT factory specification certificate.
That paperwork also confirms it as an original RHD car with MPH speedometer. It was delivered to a dealer in Germany, the assumption is that it was ordered by a member of the British Military, before returning to the UK in 1979 since when it has had just four keepers. It is an older restoration, likely from the mid 1990s, and presents in solid, generally tidy condition with some scope for the buyer to improve it.
The vendor bought the car in 2024 after a period of dry storage. He tells us that he has undertaken extensive recommissioning work since purchase. A lengthy MOT valid to April 2027 with no advisories confirms the mechanical and structural integrity. He is selling because old age and ailing health prevent him from continuing to continue the improvements.

A smart, much-historied example of the sought-after ‘pull handle’ B.
The vendor says:
“Good to drive, keeps up with modern traffic without difficulty. Very pretty car gets lots of compliments. Can't beat it on a sunny day, summer or winter.”
