The Appeal
The W113 Pagoda has cemented its place at the top of classic car desirability lists for two reasons: like any good piece of design, it is timeless. Secondly. Despite over 60 years passing since it was launched, it remains utterly usable. This is a classic you can comfortably jump in, drive to Cannes, and jump out, perhaps heading for the casino, feeling as relaxed and unruffled as you did at the start of your trip.
This beautiful 1965 230SL evokes all of that because it is in such good order. That is thanks to a very recent and extensive restoration that was only completed in December 2025. The work included a bare metal renovation, including repairs to bodywork and underside as required, then finishing in the very fetching shade of silver blue that you can see in the photos. That finish complements the highly original light grey interior and the dark blue roof. There is also a matching hard top.
Many purists favour the 230SL because it is generally considered to be the engine that the W113 was designed to use. Here it is mated to a factory automatic box. We are told that the car has been well maintained, which is supported by the large history file, and comes to market with recent check over and service.
This genuine UK market RHD Pagoda is a well-specified car where the buyer can benefit from all the seller’s recent investment.
The vendor says:
“The car is silver blue with a grey leather interior. It is stunning looking. A real head turner. It is a pleasure to drive and amazingly reliable. It is a car to be proud of.”
