Highlights
- The final evolution of Fiat's long-running 1100 family, produced between 1966 and 1969
- Finished in blue with a tan vinyl interior
- An increasingly uncommon survivor offering accessible entry into 1960s Italian motoring
The Appeal
The Fiat 1100 R was the last of a model line that had served as the backbone of Italian middle-class mobility throughout the post-war economic boom. Styled to echo the crisp, boxy lines of the then-new Fiat 124, it paired a refreshed exterior, complete with simplified round tail lights borrowed from the Fiat 850, with well-established mechanicals. Produced at Fiat's Mirafiori plant in Turin between 1966 and 1969, the 1100 R bridged the gap between Fiat's traditional rear-wheel-drive architecture and the front-wheel-drive revolution ushered in by its successor, the Fiat 128.
Beneath the bonnet sits the familiar 1,089cc inline-four, praised in period for its willingness to rev and its engaging character, driving the rear wheels through a floor-mounted four-speed manual gearbox. With front disc brakes as standard and a straightforward mechanical layout that lends itself to uncomplicated maintenance, this 1100 R represents a charming and approachable slice of 1960s Italian motoring.

Is there any paperwork at all with the car? Perhaps a past certificate of conformity or other official document that shows the vehicle identity? Thank you.

SellerThe vehicle has no modifications left, the interior is original and so is the exterior. The patina looks decent, it's never been resprayed. The engine bay has been completely redone with loads of invoices for engine parts, mechanical bits, head gasket, piston rings, gearbox – all the receipts are available.
