The Appeal
Early MGBs retain the purity of Syd Enever’s aerodynamic design and neat interior details like sprung steering wheels and simpler seating. This RHD 1966 B retains those features and is a really tidy car thanks to continuous investment across the cosmetics, structure and mechanicals by its handful of keepers.
We’re told that the chassis was restored prior to 2011 and the car painted in appropriate ‘English Green’ in 2011. It remains in good order, as a current Belgian technical inspection verifies.
The vendor acquired the car 12 years ago and has continued to improve it. In 2025, over €3,000 was invested in work such as a new alternator, carburettor overhaul, front and rear suspension bushes, and a full service. The car is fitted with a replacement engine that has been converted to unleaded.
The vendor says:
“The car is very pleasant to drive, and the engine and transmission are very responsive: this engine is very lively and powerful. It is equipped with power brakes and an additional electric fan. This MG B brings smiles and flashes of headlights whenever I drive it....
“I am a fan of vintage motorcycles and mechanics. This MG B was missing from my mechanical collection. I liked it because it is AUTHENTIC (it is an MK1 manufactured between March 31 and April 1, 1966), in its beautiful “English” green colour, with spoke wheels and right-hand drive (so British). The certificate from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust verifies its origin and the authenticity of its chassis number and specifications. The serial numbers on the ignition key, glove compartment, and left door are original!"

The vendor says:
“I purchased it on 06/01/2014 from Mr. Jack Dickinson and picked it up by train in Birmingham; I drove it back via the Shuttle to Belgium. All work (as defined below, with invoices sent via Dropbox) was performed to ensure the car’s reliability and allow for safe driving. Apart from the replacement of two rear shock absorbers and a new Dinitrol treatment, no further costs are expected.
“The MG B has been stored in a dry garage in my backyard (concrete floor and wooden garage—see photo) since July 2014. I am aware of two previous owners (see UK Registration Certificate): - Mr. Jack Dickinson (Sutton Coldfield) between May 8, 2014, and June 1, 2014 (date of my purchase) (duration: 3 weeks) - Mr. Michael Anthony Alban Florey (Witney) between 06/06/1983 and 08/05/2014 (for 31 years).
“The small red leather keychain bears the name A. Florey, and the last line reads “Tel Witney 9523”... The HPI Check Results document mentions a colour change from blue to green on 04/27/1985.
“The cylinder head was replaced with a lead-free cylinder head (see photo of invoice 17 from JCM Ltd in Didcot dated 10/05/2011). The 18GB-U-H/39686 engine was replaced by the 48G528ERS43327 at an unknown date but BEFORE the cylinder head was changed. The locks on the right door and the trunk are no longer original.”
