Rare Belgian-assembled example, built at General Motors Antwerp
Originally a V8 car, uncommon among Antwerp-assembled Parisiennes
In current ownership for approximately 10 years
Restored from an unfinished project with extensive bodywork and mechanical rebuilding
The Appeal
Big, brash and angular - as you'd expect from a '60s Pontiac product - the Parisienne was intended to nonetheless be a more elegant, continental-friendly car. This was the definitive Canadian-market full-size Pontiac, and while GM tried to give it a shot at the European market, a scant few ever saw European soil, with very little Parisienne stemming from the Antwerp plant. Any surviving Belgian-built example is therefore a genuine rarity, and this particular car is further distinguished by its original V8 engine, as most examples leaving the Belgian factory were fitted with six-cylinder engines.
Purchased as an unfinished project in 2016, this Parisienne has been brought back to life over the course of a decade of ownership. The previous owner carried out extensive welding to the wheel wells and lower doors and straightened the body, while the current owner completed the respray and built up the mechanicals.
Underneath, the chassis has been thoroughly upgraded with polyurethane bushings, boxed rear control arms, a torsion bar, and front disc brakes. The vendor reports the interior is original and in good condition, with only the floor carpet replaced.
It's a rare, highly desirable oddity - and one that we think will garner plenty of interest at auction. IMG_2165.jpeg688.46 KB
