The Appeal

It's common knowledge that '60s bank robbers loved Jags. Easy to come by, spacious, and dead-quick, it's no wonder Mk2s and S-Types were involved in many a high-speed chase in period. That meant the police needed something that could keep up, and in the late sixties, few cars could - so they got Jags as well.

The Jaguar S-Type was a fabulous tool for police fleets during the late 1960s, its blend of performance and refinement making it ideally suited to high-speed pursuit and motorway patrol duties. Today, surviving police-specification examples are vanishingly rare, and this 3.4S is understood to be one of just four still in existence worldwide.

This car has historically received a bare metal respray, and the vendor describes it as a very decent, strong car that starts first time and runs well. The vendor describes the interior as being in very good condition, while the chrome work presents well for its age. Having been held in private collections for many years, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of British motoring and policing history.

Honest answer I don't know. But I could find out alas not till later. Chap before me had car years and years complete jaguar man. Luckily very wealthy chap spent a fortune on a very impressive collection so I am very happy all that should be done is right and correct. Known him a few years.

No problem . Currently not with the vehicle so not able to look at other bits. What I can tell you is the gentleman that owned the vehicle before me was a jaguar club member and was lucky to be an incredibly wealthy man. So a historic full metal re spray and renovation was carried out. He also owned vehicle for many many years alongside a incredibly valuable collection including mint xk150 and many more jaguars and rolls Royce etc. This chap was one of my painting and decorating customers for many years Irocily took me 2 years of asking to acquire vehicle. So my confidence in the vehicle being all ok is exceptionally high. I hope this gives you some understanding and confidence in what is a most incredibly rare jaguar. We are are a long way to go to reserve. This car in my opinion very special.

Does the Jag have a blue beacon as there`s no mention within the advert, also, do you know where it was stationed/area it was based. Thanks

Yes it has blue beacon as far as I am aware everything is there. Obviously I know it was met police but not sure exactly what area it was covering. However lots of information available from classic police car owners club and I am sure they could answer the questions. Very special car this and incredibly rare. If it does not reach a sensible figure will remain in my private collection. Would you like to come and see it?
