The Appeal
The Land Rover Lightweight - or 'airportable' - was developed in the 1960s specifically for military use, the driving focus of the project was for the vehicle to be light enough to be transported by helicopter or aircraft.
This particular 1963 example has been thoughtfully rebuilt on a period-correct Designa chassis that's been adapted to use more comfortable coil springs rather than the original leaf spring setup.
The reconditioned 200TDI engine provides improved performance and dependability compared to the original powerplant, while the galvanised chassis corrects those common corrosion foibles. It's a deeply characterful, capable example.
