The Appeal
The Mark 1 Capri was already a popular car - the car you always promised yourself, as they marketed - but the 3000GT XL? That was the cream of the crop. Pairing the Essex 3.0-litre V6 with the well-appointed GT XL trim, it offered a sporty, determined cabin, distinctive straight-line performance and a top-notch engine note, too. Relaxed grand touring in a shape that defined an era.
This example spent its first five decades in South Africa, where the dry climate helped preserve its underpinnings. It passed through just two registered keepers there before being imported to the UK in 2021 by the current owner, its first UK-registered keeper. Prior to the crossing, the car underwent an external and mechanical restoration in South Africa. Once in the UK, the vendor commissioned Classic & Sports Car Restorations in Malton, North Yorkshire, to carry out an interior trim and dash restoration and to fit a period-appropriate modern radio, ensuring the cabin matches the quality of the work done elsewhere.DSC08602.jpg1.16 MB

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
