The Appeal

Jensen's Interceptor is one of the best and most stylish GTs of its era, a car that practically set the template for big-bonneted, fastback '60s and '70s GTs. So any example is worthy of attention. But that is especially true of the short-lived Interceptor II. Introduced in 1969 and available for just two years, these cars got the improved aesthetics and advanced 'impact-resistant' interior of the final models, but retained the 330bhp high-compression 6.3L Chrysler V8 of the original. Later Interceptors got bigger engines, but were much less powerful.

Just 432 LHD '125' prefix Mk2 cars were built. This one was constructed in early 1970 and is car number 87 of that run. It spent its life in the USA, reportedly much of it in the Midwest with a long-term keeper, before returning to the UK in 2020, not long after a comprehensive restoration and repaint in its current black. Since then it has covered few miles and been carefully dry stored as part of a high-end collection.

Inside and out, this is a very well presented Mk2. The 'black on black' color scheme suits the handsome lines and is in good order throughout. The later louvered hood is a common fitment to aid cooling, while the removal of the bumper over-riders cleans up the look.

MOPAR power, hand-crafted individuality and Mk2 rarity all add up to a very compelling Jensen.
