The appeal
Among the most recognisable and likeable cars ever produced, the 2CV4—internally designated “AZA2”—with its air-cooled 435 cm³ flat-twin, captures the model in its most expressive form. Finding a well-restored example with a solid history is becoming an increasingly enticing prospect.
This 1972 left-hand-drive 2CV4 has been with its current owner since 2017 and was entrusted to Garage Delporte, an approved Citroën repairer in Berles-au-Bois in northern France, for a thorough restoration. The work, completed in February 2024, includes a new floorpan, an engine rebuild, reconditioning of the front and rear suspension arms, a new bright red-and-white two-tone respray, fully refurbished upholstery and a new white soft top hood. Original dashboard components—particularly the steering wheel, the fascia and the buttons—have been retained. The seller describes the car as a little marvel, and it has been used regularly in good weather since the end of the work.

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as written off following a total loss claim at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic and provide category write-off labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. The presence or absence of a label, however, does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always useful to carry out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
