The Appeal

Depriving a car of its roof and doors is a sure-fire way to increase the fun factor, and that's exactly what Carrozzeria Ghia did to the Fiat 500 on the instruction of playboy industrialist and Fiat boss Gianni Agnelli.

Originally conceived as a beach car for the Mediterranean jet set, the Jolly form has become one of the most charismatic and sought-after expressions of the little Fiat.
This 1972 right-hand drive example has been upgraded to 650-cc and converted to the roofless Jolly style and recently subjected to a programme of cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment. The bodywork has been fully resprayed in a light metallic blue, while the cabin has been retrimmed in cream leather with contrasting blue piping and fresh blue carpeting, a combination that looks smart and cohesive. Under the rear deck, the engine has been gone through with new components fitted, and the vendor states it is running very healthily.
Whether destined for a private collection, summer outings along the coast, or as an eye-catching display piece for a hospitality venue or boutique, this is a wonderfully charismatic little car presented beautifully in readiness for its next keeper.

The vendor says:

"A wonderfully charming and beautifully presented 1972 Fiat 500, converted to the iconic open top Jolly style and recently treated to an extensive programme of cosmetic refurbishment and mechanical recommissioning. Finished in a striking light metallic blue, the car has benefited from a complete exterior respray, and fresh chrome work. The interior has been tastefully retrimmed in cream leather with contrasting blue piping, complemented by fresh blue carpeting. The combination works beautifully with the exterior colour and gives the car a smart, luxurious feel while retaining all the charm and simplicity that makes these little Fiats so appealing. Mechanically, the engine which is an uprated 650cc unit has been thoroughly gone through and is running very healthily, with a number of new components fitted as part of the car's recent recommissioning for road use."

"The result is a particularly attractive and freshly renovated example, ready to be enjoyed and admired. With its distinctive roofless Jolly-style coachwork, this Fiat would make a delightful addition to a private collection, a charming summer runabout or a fantastic display piece. Equally at home outside restaurants, within a stylish boutique, on a showroom floor or on the French riviera where many Formula 1 drivers own and use similar examples. This example offers enormous visual appeal and character and is ready to be enjoyed. An incredibly charismatic little car, presented in a fabulous colour combination and benefiting from significant recent expenditure. A wonderful opportunity to acquire something genuinely fun, distinctive and full of Italian charm
