The Appeal
Purists may gravitate to the earliest cars, often to add to static collections, but if you are the sort of E-Type enthusiast who wants to get out and enjoy your car, then you want a Series III. These final cars were built on the longer 2+2 chassis, so have more spacious cabins and longer doors that ease access and egress, and then there’s the icing on the cake - that super-smooth V12 engine.
With its relaxing automatic gearbox, this 1973 convertible firmly leans into the later car’s touring abilities. It began life as a LHD USA export, before returning to the UK in 2019. Here it was converted to RHD as part of what we are told was an extensive restoration. Now finished in classic Old English White matched with a new hood and stand-out re-trimmed red leather interior, it is a really tidy and nicely presented car that looks perfect for summer motoring.
The car comes to market fresh from a full service. The front suspension was polybushed at the same time. Earlier work includes a recent new starter motor and fuel pump. We’re told the car drives well and is ready to go.
