The Attractions
The Jaguar XJ coupe was the last project lovingly cared for by the company's founder, Sir William Lyons. With the XJ-S in the range there was clearly no need for another coupe, but we're really glad he insisted on creating it.
It took a long time to perfect the car's elegant pillarless body, but the result is surely one of the most beautiful Jaguars of all time. Production was unfortunately short-lived, making the surviving examples rare and increasingly sought after by discerning collectors.
This example with only two owners is particularly attractive. In excellent condition thanks to a complete restoration received in the past, it is an exceptionally rare manual transmission model with overdrive. Meeting original factory specifications and with ASI certification, it is a superb example of an extremely capable car. It is ideal for classic car rallies or simply to be admired.

The bodywork is similarly maintained, with good panel alignment and no visible corrosion in areas such as the wings and sills.

The Mechanics
Jaguar XK straight-six 4,235 cc engine developing around 245 hp
4-speed manual transmission with overdrive
The seller informs us that the car is mechanically in excellent condition and has no leaks
Recent shock absorbers
The seller recommends a light tune-up due to limited use in the last period
Jaguar's XK engine originated as a Le Mans-winning powerplant in the 1950s, but proved so durable that it powered the company's cars into the 1980s. In the XJ6C it offers an appealing mix of performance and reliability, backed by excellent parts availability.
The car's 4.2 engine is mated to the extremely rare 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive, which chassis number records confirm was factory installed. It is an excellent alternative to the more common automatic and adds to the often overlooked driving pleasure that is an integral part of the XJ experience.
This car has been carefully garaged by its long-time owner and rarely used, only for classic car rallies. The seller informs us that it runs well and has recent shock absorbers, but could benefit from a slight tune-up due to recently rather limited use.IMG-20240108-WA0078.jpg204.12 KB
