The Appeal
Built under licence by Santana of Bratislava, Slovakia, the Santana 1300 uses the Land Rover Series IIa as a base to create a forward-control load lugger with a huge rear bay and a no-nonsense, utilitarian machine that was perfectly grounded for commercial and industrial enterprise. Only around 4,000 units are believed to have been built between '67 and '78, which means it's a real head-turning classic besides.
This 1975 example has undergone a comprehensive restoration, and the result is stunning. The underside is in excellent order, the interior beautifully finished and the paintwork gleaming. It's clearly a very thorough job, with everything from the wiring loom to the bay's floorboards renewed and refinished.
The vendor tells us that all original parts have been retained and that it is in fine mechanical condition. Fitted with a 2.3-litre diesel engine, manual gearbox and four-wheel drive, this nine-seater Santana 1300 is beautifully kept, reportedly running well and packed full of interest. image.png1.11 MB
