The Appeal
The MGB's engine bay was built, originally, to carry a V4 - so it's little surprise that entrepreneurial types were experimenting with the powertrain and working out what could go in there. Rover's alloy-headed V8 weighed roughly the same as the B-Series engine, and when Ken Costello gave it a shot, he found a car transformed. The chaps at MG took notice and, on a shoestring budget, decided to put it into production.
It's now the most desirable of any MG on the market - and certainly the fastest and most capable ever to leave an Abingdon production line.
This 1975 example has benefited from considerable care and investment during its current ownership, with bodywork, chrome, and mechanical items all receiving attention. A run of MOT certificates from 2006 to 2022 accompanies the car, along with invoices for parts purchased during the current ownership. 38a42997-3220-4a9d-82e5-adedb7aa0749.webp370.83 KB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
