The Appeal
The CJ7 cleverly channelled the joyous go-anywhere capability of the original Willys Jeep into something very similar with identical qualities for private buyers. With bigger engines, chunkier wheels, an ultra-reliable straight-six engine and much more comfortable, it was a huge success.
This example kicked off UK sales of these stylish Land Rover alternatives because it is said to be the first factory built RHD example sold here. It started its life as a demonstrator before joining the current keeper’s family in 1980, initially owned by his mother and then passing to him in 1996.
The condition you see in the photos is the result of what we are told was a ‘nut and bolt’ restoration undertaken over eight years. The work covered chassis, bodywork, suspension, braking system, fuel system, and both differentials. The original seats have been retained, while the hood, doors, and other interior trim have all been renewed.
It was clearly done well because the yellow paintwork, chassis and underside and smart tan interior are all in good order. The vehicle has been unused for three years so the interior would benefit from a valet. It currently does not start so will require some fettling and towing away by the buyer.
Here is a chance to buy a notable CJ7 where a huge amount of hard work has been put in to bring it up to a very tidy standard.
