The Appeal
The flagship of the Renault 16 range in the late 1970s, the TX embodied Renault's top-of-the-line offering. Equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox, more comprehensive equipment and a more powerful engine, it delivered a remarkable level of comfort and versatility for its era.
More than fifty years after the Renault 16's launch, TX versions rank among the most sought-after variants by enthusiasts of the model. They retain all the qualities that made this spacious hatchback sedan a success: a roomy cabin, excellent visibility, outstanding suspension comfort and excellent capability for long journeys.
This 1979 example stands out with its attractive Electric Blue finish paired with a black and peach fabric interior—a combination particularly representative of the period. The seller indicates the car presents a fine original condition, with sound bodywork, well-preserved undercarriage and good quality paint.
A few minor flaws are noted, however, including slight corrosion at the base of the left rear door and some stone chips on the hood. Despite this, the overall presentation is described as very satisfactory.
Recent maintenance work has been carried out to ensure reliability and make the car immediately usable. Corresponding invoices are available in the vehicle's file.
